Editorial Notes
The Legion 5i 16 Gen 9 brings Intel Core i7-14700HX (Raptor Lake Refresh HX) with up to RTX 4070 Laptop GPU to Lenovo's mainstream 2024 gaming line. The 20-core HX processor delivers strong multi-threaded performance, notably better than the AMD variant's 8-core Ryzen HS in heavily threaded workloads. Thunderbolt 4 enables external GPU docking and high-speed peripherals. Dual SODIMM DDR5 slots retain upgradeability.
Intel HX thermals run warmer than AMD HS at equivalent loads — adequate cooling but audible fans under sustained gaming. The base DDR5-5600 benefits from XMP profiles which may not activate automatically.
Available at Digitec and Brack in the CHF 1300–1600 range. Intel variant typically CHF 100–200 more than AMD equivalent — Thunderbolt 4 justifies the premium for Swiss users with Intel dock infrastructure.
