Editorial Notes

The Gen 12 was the first X1 Carbon with Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake), introducing the NPU for on-device AI workloads. The OLED option at 2.8K 120 Hz remains one of the best laptop displays available. Build quality is quintessential ThinkPad — magnesium-carbon hybrid chassis with MIL-STD-810H rating.

Known Issues

The Core Ultra 7 155U can throttle under sustained multi-core loads due to the 15W TDP envelope. This is by design for ultraportable thermals. Some users report coil whine under specific loads — varies by unit.

Swiss Market

Well stocked at Swiss retailers. Refurbished Gen 11 units offer strong value if the Gen 12 price is above budget. Lenovo CH configures to order with 2-3 week lead time for non-stock configurations.
